How to easily get a Thailand e‑Visa from Malaysia complete guide 2025

Thailand e‑Visa

Currently, getting a Thailand e‑Visa from Malaysia is not as easy as it used to be. While many people used to get visas easily before, now there are a lot of rejections. Many people are applying repeatedly because they do not know the correct rules, but they are getting rejected every time.
In this blog, I will show you step by step how to apply for a Thailand e‑Visa from Malaysia 100% correctly, what mistakes will lead to rejection, and what documents need to be submitted correctly.

The most important rule for Thailand e‑visa

The most important and mandatory condition for Thailand e‑visa is you must apply from within Malaysia. That is, if you are visiting Malaysia on a visit visa or staying in Malaysia on a job, student visa or work permit, then you can apply for a Thailand e‑visa from Malaysia only. If you apply from outside Malaysia, the system will not accept it, so there is a 100% chance of rejection. So before starting the application, make sure that you are currently staying in Malaysia and that you have a Malaysia entry stamp in your passport because this stamp proves that you are eligible to apply from within Malaysia.

Important documents required for Thailand e‑Visa application

To apply for Thailand e‑Visa, certain documents must be submitted with great importance. Because due to the recent increase in the rejection rate, even a small mistake can now cancel your application. Therefore, it is important to prepare each of the following documents correctly.

1. Malaysian Entry Seal

You need to upload a clear scan copy of the immigration entry seal that you get in your passport when you enter Malaysia. This seal proves that you are staying inside Malaysia and are eligible to apply for an e‑Visa from here.

2. Complete scan copy of passport

Passport scanning is a very important step for Thailand e‑Visa, and this is where most applicants make mistakes. You need to scan the entire passport from the first page to the last page, including all the blank pages and submit it in a PDF file. Those whose passport is 48 pages or 64 pages must submit all the pages. Along with this, a recent passport size photograph, and a scanned copy of the visa sticker or social visa on which you are in Malaysia must be submitted.

3. Bank Statement

A bank statement is now a mandatory document for Thailand e‑Visa, and even a small mistake here can lead to rejection of the application. It is better to have a balance of at least 20,000 Bath or its equivalent in your bank statement, as it proves your ability to travel. The most important thing is that the statement must have a bank seal. Many people provide statements generated online, but visa officers usually give less importance to it when they see online statements, and the chances of rejection increase a lot. Therefore, it is the safest and most acceptable way to collect a printed statement with a seal from the nearest bank branch before applying. A correct and clear bank statement significantly increases the chances of your visa being approved.

4. Copy of Malaysia Visa

It is mandatory to submit a scanned copy of the visa on which you are staying in Malaysia for the Thailand e‑Visa application. If you are in Malaysia on a student visa or work visa, you will need to provide a clear scan of the visa sticker or permit. For those who are in Malaysia as tourists, you will need to submit a copy according to the type of visit visa you have if you have a multiple entry visa, a copy of the multiple entry, and if you have a single entry visa, a scan of the single entry is sufficient. Make sure the scan is clear and all the information is clearly visible, as this is an important part of the visa verification.

5. Additional documents for student/work visa holders

For those who are in Malaysia on a student visa or work visa, an additional document is required for the Thailand e‑Visa application. In this case, you will need to obtain a clearance letter from the Bangladesh High Commission (Kuala Lumpur), stating that you intend to travel to Thailand for the purpose of travel. This clearance letter is used to confirm the authenticity and purpose of your trip. However, those on a tourist visa in Malaysia do not need to submit this clearance their visa process is completed normally.

6. Confirmed Air Ticket

In the case of Thailand e‑Visa, the confirmed air ticket or live PNR is one of the most important documents. Even a slight mistake here is almost certain to result in visa rejection. Your ticket must be a Paid Booking, that is, one for which payment has been completed. When checking the live PNR, the ticket status must say “Confirmed”. Many people mistakenly submit a hold booking or a general unpaid booking, which the visa officer rejects outright as a result, 100% rejection is guaranteed. Currently, many agencies provide live PNR for a fixed fee, but to avoid fraud, it is always safe to take tickets from trusted and verified sources.

The air ticket must be paid. Paid means there must be a live PNR. Where the visa officer will 100% check your ticket to see if this ticket is live and confirmed. Yes, the confirmed ticket is only when it is paid.

I have exchanged some money from an agency. I was cutting this live PNR ticket which shows confirmation online. There are different courses which different airlines also show confirmation booking in normal booking type. You should do a little research. Even then I will give information. You can contact them and get the ticket through live payment.

How to write a cover letter for e‑visa application

Cover letter, which is very important for Thailand e‑visa. When I applied for the first two times, I got visa approval on the third time. The first two times my application was rejected because I submitted only online generated money statement without bank solvency. Also, once there was a rejection because I gave the air ticket in the form of normal booking, which was not acceptable to the visa officer.

To create an effective cover letter, you should follow some important points-

  • Clearly state the purpose of your trip. Write clearly why you are going to Thailand.
  • Mention previous travel history, if you have traveled to Thailand or other countries before with a visa.
  • Mention your current status in Malaysia whether you are a student, worker or tourist.
  • Show bank balance and financial capacity. It is better to mention the total amount of money in USD, RM or BDT.
  • Clearly state your trip plans and hotel bookings.
  • Confirm your air ticket dates and confirmation.

If you summarize all this information neatly in a one-page cover letter, your application will be more acceptable to the visa officer and your chances of getting your visa approved will increase significantly.

How to fill up the Thailand application form accurately?

In the application form, first you have to go to their official website. It can be from Malaysia or from Maldives, it can be from Sri Lanka. First, if you open a new application with your travel passport, you will get a dashboard. In that dashboard, it will ask for your passport information. The scanned copy of the passport should be 3 MB 3 megabytes in size. You can compress this size from various places on Google. After that, you will give your photo.

When you give your passport, they will automatically take all the information of your passport. You will see that you could not take some information automatically. You will fill that information yourself. You have to be very careful that what is the first name in the passport? What is the last name? What is the middle name? Are you able to enter this information correctly? If you cannot enter it correctly, then of course if your e‑visa is approved, this information will not come to your correct position and you will have to accept the delay in your airport pass.

Then you have to provide contact information. You can fill in the information directly where the information is requested in the travel document. Your current address and permanent address are not the same, so you have to provide it separately. The current address is the address of the country you are in if you live in Malaysia, then the Malaysian address; if you live in the Maldives, then the Maldives address; if you live in Sri Lanka, then the Sri Lankan address. And the home or permanent address is your Bangladeshi address, such as Dhaka or any other place in Bangladesh. Then you have to fill in your occupation and manual income.

Then click on the Next button. After clicking Next, you will see that you have to mention your current location. For example, you are applying from the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Here you need to mention that your application travel document is an ordinary passport, the type of visa is tourist, and single entry or multiple entry. After filling in the information, you will go to the next page.

On the next page, you need to provide detailed information about your travel. Here you need to mention the date on which you will arrive in Thailand (Arrival Date) and the date on which you will leave the country (Departure Date). You also need to mention your last port or last port. If you start your journey from Malaysia, then the last port will be Malaysia. Then you need to mention whether you will use land, sea or air port.

In the next section, you need to select the mode of transport, usually commercial flight. You also need to provide the flight number.

Here you need to provide the address of the hotel where you will stay. You will get all the necessary information from the hotel booking. Hotels can usually be booked from 11 am. If your trip includes multiple hotels, you can provide an additional hotel address. For example, if your trip is for five days, it is better to select two hotels so that the trip is realistic and natural.

You need to mention in the visa application whether you are traveling to Thailand or not. If yes, select “Yes”. Also, if you are not going in a group and want a single visa, select “Single”. Then click on Next and you will be taken to an important page. Here you have to fill in the biodata page. Only passport-related information needs to be given in the travel document, no additional information needs to be given here.

Then comes the step of uploading photographs and other documents. Your current location will be the country you are in, such as Malaysia. The hotel booking in Malaysia and the address of that hotel, as well as the current address given earlier all the information must be the same. Check all the addresses and booking information correctly.

All Thailand booking copies, hotel booking copies will be given here as Financial Evidence. Here is the bank statement of financial evidence. Now tell me where you will give the cover letter. This is where you can add your cover letter. Or add the cover letter with your bank statement to your financial document. I added my cover letter with the financial document. And of course the air ticket will be a paid booking here.

Then after submitting, you will be taken to the payment page. You will have to pay with your multi-currency card. After making the payment, they will give you a reply email within a maximum of one day that what is the status of your visa? If they ask for any document later, they will give you the document.

Another important point is that the scan copy of the full passport. You will not give the scan copy of this full passport with this application file. When they ask for additional documents later in the mail the next day, they will attach the scan copy of the full passport to this mail.

There is no need to submit a scan copy of your full passport with this application form. So you will have to wait. You will get a reply within a day after submitting. And they will inform you about the next steps. I hope all of you will get your visa approved if you submit it following this process.
